MHS Course Details
MHS offer flexible training programmes that can be adapted to meet
the needs of most working environments and are very happy to meet with
organisations to discuss their particular requirements and create courses
accordingly.
The 12 hour, certificated MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID course consists of
four sessions that can be taught over a number of days, or spread over
several weeks as required.
Session 1:
Why mental health first aid? The five steps of mental health first aid, Common mental health problems, What is depression? Symptoms & causes of depression.
Session 2:
Depression in the workplace, Crisis first aid for suicidal behaviour, Treatment and resources for depression, What are anxiety disorders? Symptoms & causes of anxiety disorders.
Session 3:
Crisis first aid for panic attacks, Crises first aid for acute stress reaction, Treatment and resources for anxiety disorders, What are psychotic disorders? Symptoms & causes of psychotic disorders.
Session 4:
Crisis first aid for acute psychosis, Treatment and resources for psychosis, What is Substance abuse? Symptoms, causes, treatment and resources, Crisis first aid for overdose.
